Interdisciplinary Winter and Summer School

One of the major aims of the CZ-AT EEG is the dissemination of the results of the jointly research projects to assist not only in a better understanding of national and European problems with the energy supply, promotion of renewable energy sources, exchanging information about new technologies, but also contribute in reducing misunderstandings about energy policies in both countries.
A Winter and Summer School is a perfect way for students to get to know the situation in Austria and the Czech Republic. The Winter and Summer School has been organized every year since 2006.
The Winter and Summer School is provided as an intensive course guaranteed by partnership universities. Every year 10 Czech and 10 Austrian participating students come from different universities, mainly from the University of Graz, the Graz University of Technology, the University of Economics in Prague, the Czech Technical University and the Charles University.
The course is divided into 2 one-week lecture parts: a winter part and summer part that is held in both Graz and in Prague. Students take intensive lectures and also take part in expert excursions.
In the period between the winter and summer part, students choose topics for their seminar papers and work on these papers in teams. The topics of the seminar papers are given by the corresponding experts of the CZ-AT EEG. They also can advise the students with their papers.
The main aim of the Winter and Summer School is to intensify cooperation at the student level. CZ-AT EEG experts accent an interdisciplinary and interactive character of the course. The course focuses on master students. It is envisaged, that the common papers will be further developed in diploma thesis and dissertations. Students also pay a motivation fee.
In recent years the Winter and Summer School has been organized by the Institute for Economic and Environmental Policy within the University of Economics in Prague and by the Wegener Centre within the University of Graz. The main activities have been coordinated by Professor Jirina Jilkova and Professor Stefan Schleicher.
Project of the Interdisciplinary Winter and Summer School is financially guaranteed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management of the Republic of Austria.
